Congratulations Declan Rice
Named Captain of England v Belgium, for, amazingly, his 50th cap.

He always gave his all for us and I'm delighted for him.

Let the abuse begin....

Re: Congratulations Declan Rice
I respect Rice as a player and a pro, but find him a bit cringe as a person and couldn't give two fucks about him now, for obvious reasons.

When you were once running around over the park as a kid with jumpers for goalposts and you're now leading your country out at Wembley at 25 that is a fucking big deal and only a very tiny percentage of young hopefuls make it. A lot of blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice have got him to this point, it don't do itself that's for sure.

Suspect he will have to wait a while to become perm captain as Kane will play to at least the next world cup and then any new manager may even prefer Bellingham as skipper.

Re: Congratulations Declan Rice
He moved on to a better team, who are challenging for bigger things than we are and had every right to move if he wanted.

But he still did it with a lack of class and decency towards our fans in my opinion.

Well done on a 50th cap and captaincy, doesn’t have any bearing on our club though.

Re: Congratulations Declan Rice
As good a player as he is Bellingham will never captain England, he'll need to learn to control his temper.

He definitely would have done. No question.

I really don't want to get into all this again, but I have to say - I really don't see what he could have done better. We were always going to be gutted and were even more so because he went to Arsenal and not the very top.

We all said he'd captain England. Shame not while he was with us but still great for him. In an England shirt I wish him well.

Re: Congratulations Declan Rice
Well good for him, he’s a very good player and one of the best England has, but with Arsenal fans squirting with delight as he is their player now, I’m not sure I’m that bothered!

Well done Declan
To all those who thought he was suppressing Soucek,do one.
Laughable.
under a better progressive manager he would be playing Champions League with us.
It does mean Henderson wont be playing tonight from the start at least, hopefully Mainoo or Maddison alongside.

Re: Congratulations Declan Rice
I’m happy for Declan, but according to most of the pundits he was only worth about £40m this time last year. Now the same tossers are saying he was a bargain. It must have been working with Arteta that improved him. 😡

Jude Bellignham is still only 20, he has time to calm down.
Nice one Declan and well deserved.

I know its pathetic but once players leave my interest level in their careers drops to zero. Sorry but I don't give a shit about Rice or his captaincy, it won't be long until he scores against us and kisses the cannon.

Think it's a bit of a gesture, 50th cap and all that. Good luck to him though.

Re: Congratulations Declan Rice
Well done Declan and good luck to him.

Couldn't give a monkeys about him in an Arsenal shirt but if he's playing for England then I hope he does well.

Can't believe that Sir Trevor only got 47 England caps (and Billy didn't get any). Declan, barring injury, should get well over 100.
